AKAMAS PENINSULA

The Akamas Peninsula is at the northwest extremity of Cyprus with an area of 144 square miles. It is a National Park and area of outstanding natural beauty where there are deep gorges, a wild landscape and wide sandy bays.

Ptolemy described it as a thickly wooded headland, divided into two by a mountain range rising towards the north. The peninsula is named after a son of Theseus, hero of the Trojan War.

Due to the mountainous nature of the peninsula there are no roads running through its heartland however there are main roads running from Peyia to Agios Georgios on the North West side and Latchi and Polis on its North East side. Look out for the spectacular and stunning views across the valleys on the road to and from Latchi and Polis from Peyia.

Visitor attractions in the Akamas peninsula include, Agios Georgios, the Lara Bay loggerhead turtle sanctuary where the turtles come to lay their eggs at night, Latchi Harbour near Polis where you can eat at its scrumptious seafood restaurants dotted around the marina and the Baths of Aphrodite where the goddess is said to have bathed.

Our apartments are only a 30 minute drive from the Akamas coastline and fishing villages near to Agios Georgios. and around 50 minutes drive to Latchi and Polis.

Mountain bike hire is available in nearby Coral Bay with easy access to the beautiful and very peaceful Akamas Peninsula which also provides excellent walking opportunities.
